The LOI Robotics Program is currently part of the First Lego League competition that goes on throughout the world.
From the FLL webpage
“The best way to summarize FIRST LEGO League is to say that it is a robotics program for 9 to 16 year olds (9 to 14 in US/CAN/MEX), which is designed to get children excited about science and technology — and teach them valuable employment and life skills. FLL can be used in a classroom setting but is not solely designed for this purpose. Teams, composed of up to ten children with at least one adult coach, can also be associated with a pre-existing club or organization, homeschooled, or just be a group of friends who wish to do something awesome."
Our program is a group of students that meet regularly from late August through early December and participate in the WV State/Regional Competitions. Guided by the coaches the students learn the values of FLL and how to work together as a team.
Our 2013 team, the SCIENEERS, ended the FLL season on a very positive note with the team winning the 2nd Place Champions Award at the WV State FLL Tournament!
The Champion’s Award -“This award recognizes teams that embody the FLL experience, by fully embracing our Core Values while achieving excellence and innovation in both the Robot Game and Project.”
In addition, our Robot- STEM-e, tied for 8th place in the Robot Game with 294 points! The team and coaches worked hard throughout the season and were very pleased with the results.
